SACP statement on the genocidal aggression of the Israeli security apparatus against the people of Gaza
The South African Communist Party joins millions across the globe, including tens of thousands of Israeli peace activists, in expressing outrage at the genocidal aggression of the Israeli security apparatus against the people of Gaza. This aggression is both futile and absolutely disproportionate to the alleged objective of halting rocket fire from Gaza, an enclave that has been suffering a bitter and illegal siege for months.
The SACP wishes to take this opportunity to wish all fellow South Africans, especially the workers and the poor of our country a happy festive season and a happy 2009. To the workers of our country we wish to salute them for their hard work and sweat that keep the wheels of our economy turning. For this we wish them a well-deserved rest.
SACP rebutes the allegations on The Sunday Independent and Tribune
The SACP has noted the allegations leveled against the General Secretary of the SACP in the stories ran in The Sunday Independent and The Sunday Tribune. We wish to dismiss with the contempt that it deserves the spurious allegations leveled against comrade Blade.
It has been a long time that I have had to read a book in order to talk about it. In the past, I have had to write book reviews rather than be a speaker at the launch of a book. The dilemma is whether you attempt a short book review or talk about the subject of a book or about the author. My remarks will however be a mix of all three.
